Here are a couple simple plywood topper stars with white rope light outlining the shape, zip-tied to the wood through some holes. Plywood was heavily painted with multiple coats of black to seal the wood. One was simply bolted onto the center post; on the other, a section of the post was cut out of the center and the star slipped inside and bolted through. No how-to is provided since the pictures are self-explanatory. | Here are a couple simple plywood topper stars with white rope light outlining the shape, zip-tied to the wood through some holes.
In the example below, the post and the topper were constructed out of black PVC with holes drilled in the topper ring for zip-ties. The strings would be looped over the zip ties and cinched-up to support the strings.
